Knowing And Still Doing

Proverbs 14:12 (ESV)
There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.

Why do we do things that we know is not right or will get us in trouble?

I laughed to myself, as I reminisced on the other day. I was driving home and I spotted a traffic truck. For those that don't know what I'm talking about, it's a car designed to catch you speeding and sends the ticket by mail. May I remind you I travel this road often, so I know its there. As I continued driving I'm watching my speed. "Oh, God I'm so ready to get where I'm going and this road seems so long driving at this speed!" I thought. Well, when I looked at my speedometer I realized I was going over the speed limit because of my lack of patience. Wow! I thought. I see the truck and I still didn't do the right thing." I hope I get the mail before my husband do! :)

This had me thinking about life and how we put ourselves in situations knowing the outcome of it. We get mad we scream, we shout. "Lord why is this happening?!" I can imagine God saying, "well my child, you knew that it would cause you grief and you did it anyhow, and now you asking me to fix it?" Just like my traffic ticket, I will be looking for my husband to take care of it and it's my fault. I should fix it and pay for it right? That's the only way to learn from our mistakes. Sometimes we can be really stupid and make very dumb choices and have the nerves to cry about it. But, we should be mindful of our doings especially if we know its wrong or a bad situation. When we learn not to blame others for our mistakes and take full responsibility we will grow and mature in our choices. So from now on I think I will take another route home!

Prayer: Lord, help me to make better choices in my life. Giving me the wisdom and the understanding that I need so that my choices will be beneficial to my life. Help me to discern right from wrong. Thank you Lord for helping me get through another testing day.
Amen.
