Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own
understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3 5:6 (ESV)
Just because something looks good, doesn't mean its good for you.
One day I was trying on some shoes that I just purchased. As I started to walk in them, my feet began to hurt. "Okay, as I go on it will get better it just has to loosen up." I said to myself. I continued to wear them. Nothing changed. "Oh! They're just so cute. I said. "And they make my legs look so much longer." I did not learn my lesson because I wore them again Sunday morning to church. I tried my hardest to stick with it. I tried given it some time, because they were still pretty new. But, as I went on my toes began to tingle and became numb. Eventually I had to give it up. It just wasn't going to work!
The moral of the story is, sometimes we can be this way in life. With a person, place, or thing. We try to hold on as much as we can. Thinking it will get better. But, what that is doing is making you get so use to the pain until you become "numb." You start to ignore your worth. And Lord knows if something does not have any blood circulation it will eventually die. We want to always be mindful of the things that we tolerate in life. Don't let anyone or anything cut off your circulation just because it feels good or looks good for you.
Just like I knew those shoes was not going to work out for me but I kept being in denial. That's how we are in life. We shouldn't waste our time on the same "shoe" when there is that perfect "shoe" waiting out there just for us.
Prayer: Lord, I know there are times that I hold on too tight. Help me to let go of the things that are hindering me from progressing in my life. I want to be able to walk gracefully. Walking in the shoes that I am meant to walk in. In Jesus name, Amen.
